I am in love with my Toshie Portege and it weighs less than a kilo. I have worked the service side of dell and managed a team of their (outsourced) technicians for a while 5 years ago. The shutting itself down issue seems to be ( sounds like) a faulty motherboard. I fling my vote ( for what it is worth) with both ladies above. Maggs
